Ginkgo Biloba is a species of trees that is unique to China. The extract of ginkgo leaves is used in dietary supplements. Supplements are usually taken in the range of 40 – 200 mg per day.

The supplement is mainly used as a memory and concentration enhancer as well as to treat vertigo. The supplement’s affect however is debatable. The most comprehensive clinical trials have shown that the supplement does not prevent or even delay dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. According to some studies, in some cases the supplement has been shown to significantly improve attention in already healthy individuals. The supplements are often used in Asian cooking and are believed to be an aphrodisiac and have other health benefits. Some researchers have presented early evidence that the supplement can prevent Breast Tumors from forming.

The supplement may also have positive affects on blood flow and that it may benefit those with multiple sclerosis, showing improvement in fatigue and ability to think clearly.

The supplement has some side effects especially people with blood flow problems or those taking anticoagulants like ibuprofen or aspirin. The supplement should also not be taken by those who are taking antidepressants or those that are pregnant.

Why is it so many people don’t believe in natural supplements?

theOutside asked:

I have had a lot of very good experiences with natural supplements. Ex: I use to have problems with digestion and I bought a product called NuZymes, which are certain combo of enzymes and I never had a problem again. I had a problem with circulation and I took something called natokinase and it worked. There are other experiences but I’ll stop there. Why don’t people believe in natural supplements?

We have all the best organic products you need. People find it difficult to believe that everything they have been told about cholesterol could be wrong. They especially have difficulty believing that their own doctors could be so wrong.
After all, these doctors went to medical school . . . and they use a lot of fancy medical jargon. That’s proof that they must know what they are talking about.

Cornsilk are the silky looking fibers that grow between the corncob and its husk. These are technically the stamen of the corn plant. Cornsilk has several applications and uses in modern medicine. Its active compounds are allantoin, sterols, saponina, hordenine, plant acids as well as Vitamins C and K (potassium).

American Indians have used the entire corn plant for centuries for medicinal purposes. Native Americans used it to treat urinary disorders. Cornsilk has a high concentration of Vitamin K, or potassium, and therefore it is useful in treating urinary infections and ailments.

Cornsilk is often used as a diuretic, which is a drug that increases the rate of urination and will therefore help clear out the urinary tract . This means it is commonly used to treat kidney stones, cystitis and issues with urine flow. It cannot only prevent urinary tract issues, but it can treat the symptoms of someone who already has kidney stones. It does this by soothing the walls of the urinary tract that will relieve pressure on the stone. Because it does not treat the problem it should be used as a supplementary method.

Cornsilk is also used to treat fluid retention and jaundice. Cornsilk also increases the production of bile that improves live function. Other benefits of cornsilk include its ability to lower blood pressure and improve blood-clotting capabilities.
